Please do not use any powders, talcs, sprays or deodorants on breast and underarm area the day of the exam. Exam Day: Two basic views are taken of each breast, with compression. Compression of the breast is essential in order to: spread the breast evenly over the cassette, to make the tissue of more even density, and to immobilize the breast to reduce scattered radiation. Try to avoid this examination if you have painful breasts prior to menstruation. The examination takes approximately 30 minutes. The patient will receive a letter with results within two weeks.
