HVRA is excited
to offer, as a service to our referring healthcare providers, distribution
of digitally acquired medical images via a compact disc (CD). This
service is intended to provide the referring physician with a more
flexible and easier review, storage, transport and display system.
Soon this service will also be offered directly to patients.
Each CD has
the most recent patient exam along with an embedded image viewer
allowing for easy viewing and image manipulation. Instructions for
use are provided on the CD and within
this web site. Because the images are digital, and not fixed
printed images, they can be magnified and rotated as needed. The
window and level, similar to brightness and contrast, can be adjusted
depending on the area of interest. Electronic measurements, which
are more accurate than that of the printed images, can be obtained.
CD images can be stored directly with the rest of the patient's
medical records rather than in a separate location.
Because digitally
stored images are easier to transport, review and share with others,
additional safeguards have been put in place to insure we protect
our patients' reasonable expectations regarding privacy and confidentiality.
For this reason, we are requesting all our referring physicians
review and sign a
privacy agreement prior to receiving
studies distributed by compact disc.
Once the privacy
agreement is signed, referred patient exams will be available to
you via CD. If you have further questions or would like to learn
more about this new service now available, please contact
Joel Schwartz, M.D. at (845) 634-9279 or via email at jschwartz@hvra.net.
